Consider .editorconfig, .markdownlint.json for managing internal formatting #35
Description
As I was contributing PR #34 I noticed that, on save, my editor trimmed trailing whitespace - which is just what I have my editor set to do. I wasn't sure if that was the right thing to do for this repo, though.
It might be good to have...
- An
.editorconfigwith line ending, tab/space, trailing whitespace settings. This should help unify how people edit things. - A
.gitattributesjust to make sure things like text files are handled like text. Line endings get tricky. - A
.markdownlint.jsonto control what rules you want to enforce with Markdown. For example, standardizing on two spaces for list indents may be interesting to ensure things are unified. - Maybe prettier rules to help guide auto-formatting or pre-commit hooks to help enforce line endings or formatting.
- Maybe code spell checker config to help catch typos.
If any of those are interesting, I can put in a PR to help.
