Release list
dumbgit v0.19.0
Features
- Add syntax highlighting and a unified color palette to repository diffs.
- Give the graph a fixed default width, leaving more room for diffs.
- Open selected working-tree changes in Compare and include untracked files.
Fixes
- Keep long branch names from crowding headers and commit subjects, and preserve synced remote visibility on hover.
- Preserve both paths when comparing renamed files and display rename status consistently.
- Contain horizontal overscroll in Compare to prevent accidental history navigation.
- Preserve racy working-tree edits when preparing temporary indexes.
- Scope untracked scans to requested paths and share temporary indexes for file metadata reads.
dumbgit v0.18.1
Compare view improvements:
- Click anywhere on the overview track to jump to the corresponding position.
- Size overview change markers to match the actual changed rows.
- Keep the viewport indicator visible over change markers with a neutral white overlay.
- Hide the native diff scrollbar for a cleaner reader.
Validation: CI passed, including tests, TypeScript checks, build, and npm package smoke test.

dumbgit v0.18.0
Add a dedicated Compare reader for branches and the working tree. Open a repository and choose Compare to browse changed files in a collapsible directory tree, filter by folder, and read both versions side by side with full document context.
- Navigate changes with a clickable overview and synchronized horizontal scrolling.
- Read syntax highlighting and improved word-level changes, with plain content shown immediately while colors load.
- Switch files with lighter reader updates and cached comparison data; remember the selected comparison pair and preserve reading position on refresh.
- Handle renamed files, file type changes, literal paths, and branches ending in
HEADcorrectly.
Comparisons use the two selected versions directly, not their merge base. Working tree comparisons include staged and unstaged tracked changes and exclude untracked files. Diffs over 5,000 aligned rows are left to your editor.

dumbgit v0.17.1
Improve readability of inactive repository cards by increasing their opacity to 68%.
Update the README with a screenshot of the current four-column workspace. Previous screenshots remain archived in the repository.

dumbgit v0.17.0
Workspace now brings repositories with local activity in the last 12 hours to the front, keeping the remembered order within active and inactive repositories.
- Track local edits, staging, discards, and HEAD changes across restarts without treating background fetches as activity.
- Show inactive repositories in dimmed grayscale; restore their colors and highlights on hover or keyboard focus.
- Keep card positions stable while viewing diffs or interacting with the workspace.
macOS binaries and checksums are attached by the release workflow. The same version is published to npm.
dumbgit v0.16.0
Preview images directly in the file panel, with the correct version from the working tree, staging area, commit history, or Save aside.
- Support PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP, SVG, AVIF, BMP, and ICO, with automatic scaling and a checkerboard for transparency.
- Show the previous version of deleted images and a clear message when an image cannot load or exceeds the 10 MB preview limit.
- Fix Save aside diffs to use unified patches and include untracked files.
- Refresh the workspace screenshot and document a zsh helper for jumping to remembered repositories.
dumbgit v0.15.0
What's changed (v0.14.1 → v0.15.0)
- Dirty repositories are easier to spot on the Workspace board: when a working tree has uncommitted changes, the card's border and header take on a warm amber tint, derived from the existing
--modifiedtoken rather than new ad-hoc colors. Pure chrome — card order is untouched, and the existing per-row signals stay the source of detail. - Snapshot restoration in History is guarded again so a restore target can't strand the snapshot's own commit.
- Dependency refresh: htmx 2.0.10, updated runtime deps.
dumbgit v0.14.1
What's changed (v0.14.0 → v0.14.1)
- Dropped the Workspace's branding toolbar entirely: the
dumbgittitle and theN repositoriescount are gone, and the fixed header row no longer pins above the board. The repo grid now fills the viewport and scrolls on its own; the app name lives in the document/tab title. - The repo-count was vestigial once the per-repo active state was removed, so the row only carried the brand — which no longer needed to stay pinned.
dumbgit v0.14.0
What's changed (v0.13.0 → v0.14.0)
Monitoring
- Removed the per-repo Start/Stop toggle. Every repo on the Workspace is now always watched and live. The watchers are event-driven (FSEvents), so idle cost is ~zero and only the changed repo does a full git read on refresh.
Workspace cards
- The whole card header is now a clickable link that opens the repo's standalone page (same tab), with a chevron-right affordance.
- The drag handle moved to a small horizontal grip centered near the top of the card (hover-reveal).
- Removed the current-branch label and the worktree-status dot from each card.
- Keyboard focus ring on the clickable header.
Diff panel
- Dropped the test/non-test stats breakdown in the commit summary.
- Unified add/del/modified colors under shared semantic tokens.
Internal
- Removed the persisted
activeflag from repo history; old history files are normalized on read.
dumbgit v0.13.0
What's new
A clearer, steadier commit graph — the graph now models branch identity separately from its on-screen lane, producing topology that is easier to follow while keeping the multi-repository view compact.
- Branch colors remain stable as paths move between lanes and as more history loads.
- First-parent paths stay separate until their real parent commit, so merges no longer create misleading early junctions.
- Finished paths compact left promptly, while merge connectors reuse the correct target branch.
- Stashes have their own graph nodes and direct connections to their base commits; stash lanes now use the first locally available space without widening the whole graph.
- Commit descriptions share a stable graph boundary, with a tighter column in Workspace cards.
- Loading more history preserves the scroll container and visible position, updates only the log, and avoids shifting existing stash lanes or colors.
