is there web-search engine integration? ie SearXNG (preferred)
to save the extra step of having to manually search using a search engine and copy-pasting URLs.

Not really.. we ended up taking a different route and not updating this card. But I do want to get to it.

Moving this to Ideas and keeping it open as the canonical community discussion for web-search integration.

This remains in the product plan. The earlier estimate in this thread did not materialize, and I should not leave that promise without an update. The current implementation still needs product and design decisions around search providers, source selection, extraction, citations, and the distinction between discovering sources and running an autonomous research workflow.

Existing implementation and design tracking: #342 and #973. Please use this Discussion for use cases, constraints, and feedback. Once the direction is decided, executable work will stay in Issues.

Status refresh: web search is now part of a written direction — #1315, "Evidence-Centered Research". This thread feeds the external sources part: search, use and cite web results without ingesting them first, adopt as a Source only when you decide to. Question 2 there is yours: SearXNG (self-hosted) vs. Brave (hosted) as the first provider — which unblocks you? Answer here or there.
