ProbeLab's Performance Audit of libp2p’s AutoNAT

ProbeLab has recently carried out a performance audit of libp2p's AutoNAT protocol - a critical protocol that influences the performance of several other parts of the stack. The study and final report is ideal for node operators, as well as foundations/projects that overlook the operation of entire libp2p-based networks.

Much of the reports’ content is implementation-agnostic, but we make specific reference to each implementation, where needed.

With this discussion thread, we’d like to: i) raise awareness about the study and corresponding reports, and ii) ask for feedback for corner cases we might have missed, or anything else that the community thinks should be part of these reports. Please contribute to this thread if you’ve got feedback to share.
