This PR cleans up the codebase by removing various generated files that are not used in the github actions deployment as well as improving the styling to improve legibility of the newly created gsoc page and the main page (the patterned background makes it very difficult to read some the text, especially the links). P.S. I intend to add some content changes in a separate PR later on
