Issues with changing backgrounds

Greetings, I don't know if this might be a regression or a way on how the program handles this, however, many Archlinux and derivative users are reporting me that they are not able to change the background on lightdm-slick-greeter (checked the commit that caused this and it was this one particularly. As a workaround they have created a patch (check the patch here) which somehow reverted this and allow them to do the changes once again

Since I am not sure if this might affect Ubuntu and derivatives as well because on how things are handled differently I am not sure if this is a bug, regression or something particular to Archlinux, on the comments in the commit, you say that Arch should update LightDM to the latest version, but we have LightDM 1.26 available and should work as well, if there is any need for us to do something let us know
