I would like to know if the Wireguard container can act as a client?

Machine 1:
I have a Wireguard container in server mode.

Machine 2:
I have a Wireguard container in Client mode.

The idea is to allow inter-site communication

You asked if it does client mode and inter-site communication, there are headers in the readme called Client Mode and Site-to-site VPN so the answer to your question is yes, it can do that.
