What Fortran standard does Fort support?

Hi,

I wonder, as stated in the title, what Fortran standard does Fort support? Fortran 77? It is only written in the README file that there is a long term TODO:

• Fortran90/95 support

As such, does it mean Fort does not support Fortran 90/95 for now? How about some features in Fortran 2003/2008?

I personally think it would be better to write down explicitly somewhere (like the README file) what what Fortran standard Fort supports.

It partially supports 90/95 and 77. The README section in question is really old and vague, there may be a better way to write it -- suggestions/PRs would certainly be welcome.

Support for Fortran 2003 and newer would be desirable of course. There is infrastructure for encoding standard-specific features.

Thank you.

My personal suggestion is that several issues should be set up as regarding what is missing for Fortran 90/95 and 77. These issues can then be tracked and closed whenever such a missing support is implemented.

In case that a novice like me would like to contribute, it is better that some tips are given in these issues as regarding what files/functions are accountable for a missing support.

It should be better that it is also clearly written somewhere to let users know what Fort supports or does not support.

There is a project for missing Fortran features. "good first issue" label is used for the bugs that may be a good start for somebody new to the codebase. It is possible to search directly for the open issues in the project and the beginner issues among them. Please leave a comment on any of the issues you would want to look into.
