Your RomM library, on stock NextUI. Lodor-NextUI adds two-way save sync and download-on-launch for your self-hosted RomM server to a stock NextUI install — delivered as an ordinary NextUI Tool pak. There is no NextUI fork and no patched firmware: NextUI is plugged into, never modified. All RomM logic lives in the Lodor engine; the pak only draws menus and shells out.
You keep your ROMs and saves on your server. The handheld holds only what you're playing, and NextUI does everything it already does — box art, resume, Wi-Fi, on-screen keyboard, RetroAchievements, Collections — untouched.
Requires RomM 4.8.0 or newer — device pairing ships in stock RomM as of 4.8.0.
- Download-on-launch — open a game you don't have yet; it downloads with a real progress bar, verifies, and boots. If a download fails, the game stays in your library and relaunching retries — nothing is lost.
- Two-way save sync — saves pull before you play and push after you quit, to RomM, automatically. Browse and restore older saves from the server.
- Whole-library browsing — every game in your RomM collection appears as a lightweight stub with box art, even offline.
- Game Manager — per-game actions from the top of your games list (or Tools → Lodor): download now, delete from the card (the game stays in your library; saves and box art are kept), sync a save, restore an older server save, details.
- Continue — your recent games from all your devices appear on this device, as a normal NextUI collection.
- On-device onboarding — connect to your server entirely on the handheld, including built-in Tailscale sign-in by QR code for private remote servers. No JSON editing, no computer.

Games merge into your folders — by default, RomM games land in the same
Roms/folders as your own files, tracked by a safety manifest; your own files are never modified. Prefer quarantine? Flip to separate folders from the Lodor menu. Remove Lodor from this card cleanly uninstalls exactly what the manifest owns (saves are never touched). - A Tools menu — Sync now, Refresh library, Game Manager, Search library, Download queue, Download BIOS, Recent activity, Switch user, box-art toggle, RomM games placement (mixed / separate), Setup / Re-pair, Remove Lodor from this card, Tailscale status / Reconnect / Reset & forget.
Everything else — the system list, box art rendering, the resume/recently-played switcher, Wi-Fi, the keyboard, RetroAchievements, Collections, theming, search — is NextUI's own, inherited unchanged.
Lodor-NextUI targets only the devices NextUI itself ships for that Lodor covers:
| Device | Platform |
|---|---|
| TrimUI Brick | tg5040 |
| TrimUI Smart Pro | tg5040 |
| TrimUI Smart Pro S | tg5050 |
All arm64, so one engine binary serves them; the 0.9.1 beta had its hardware pass on tg5040. Any other device → use LodorOS (the MinUI fork), not this.
Lodor-NextUI requires a working stock NextUI install first. Lodor does not install or boot NextUI — it rides on top of it.
- Installation — unzip onto your NextUI card.
- First-run onboarding — pair the device with your server, on-device.
- Reaching your RomM server — home network, Tailscale, or Cloudflare Access.
- Troubleshooting.
