enable PSRAM

Hi, want to confirm one thing, do we need "BOARD_VARIANT=SPIRAM_OCT" to enable PSRAM ? thank you

if your board doesn't use octal PSRAM than no you don't need to use that specific variant. Some boards have octal PSRAM and others have QUAD PSRAM. The amount of ram is auto detected and the S3 line of MCU's will auto detect the amount if any is attached. I am not even sure if they make an S3 that doesn't have PSRAM... whether to use 4 lanes or 8 lanes is the only thing that needs to be done.

SPIRAM is the same thing as PSRAM.

just to note. You are using the 16mb flash variant. There are 2 versions of this. one that uses 4 lanes and one that uses 8 lanes for the flash. If your uses 8 lanes you need to add --octal-flash to the build command.

Some board manufacturers don't specify which is used and you need the number off the IC in order to determine which one was used.

Seeing that your MCU has 16MB of flash if you also have 8mb of PSRAM there is a high probability that it is octal PSRAM so you will need to use the SPIRAM_OCT board variant when compiling.
