First release of AbleTab: view any Ableton Live MIDI clip as stringed-instrument tablature.
Install: download AbleTab-1.0.0.ablx below, then in Live open Preferences → Extensions (Developer Mode off) and drag the file onto that page. Right-click any MIDI clip → Extensions → Show Tab.
Requires Ableton Live Suite 12.4.5+ with Extensions (beta). No Node.js or SDK needed.
Highlights
- Tablature view for any MIDI clip, with fingerings chosen by tutts (HMM/Viterbi: the easiest playable path across the whole clip)
- Instrument presets (Standard Guitar, Drop D, DADGAD, Open G, 7-String, Bass, Ukulele) plus custom tunings: 4 to 8 strings, any notes, configurable frets
- Octave shift with out-of-range detection: a one-click fix when a part sits outside the instrument's range
- Quantize grid from 1/4 to 1/32, or off
- Exports: vector PDF (selectable text, provenance footer on every page) and ASCII tab wrapped at a column width you choose
- Staleness banner when the clip changed since your last export
- Bundled open-source license notices (info button in the dialog)
