OscarWatch Tracker - Version 0.8.9
Live Doppler Lead Tuning and Default Optimisation
-
On-the-Fly CAT Lead Adjustments You can now adjust and fine-tune the predictive Doppler look-ahead time and lead gain percentage on the fly. Pressing the L key on your keyboard instantly opens a dedicated tuning panel right on the frequency overlay. Any tweaks you make here apply immediately to the radio so you can dial in the perfect look-ahead behaviour to match your rig's specific latency.
-
Recommended Settings This release focuses heavily on optimising CAT Lead and Adaptive Threshold behaviour near closest approach (TCA). These features are now enabled by default, and it is highly recommended to leave them on. For the best performance, the recommended base settings are:
- Lead Time: 40ms
- Lead Strength (Gain): 70%
-
SSB Pass Tuning Tip At the start of an SSB pass, use the TX Offset control to zero out your uplink and downlink. Once you have aligned your audio at the beginning of the pass, the optimised tracking engine should keep your signal perfectly in-line for the rest of the transit.
Enhanced Dial Handling and Tracking Comfort
-
Smooth Post-Write Tuning Fixed a frustrating issue where trying to turn your radio's physical main dial would cause the frequency to aggressively "snap" back to the software's last tracking point. The software now carefully tracks your dial movement and pauses automatic writes while you are spinning the knob, seamlessly resuming automatic tracking only when you stop tuning.
-
Adaptive Thresholds and Pass CSV Logging Added an adaptive threshold system to optimise exactly when frequency updates are sent to your rig, keeping the radio VFO steady. You can also now enable per-pass CSV diagnostics, which save detailed logs of your tracking performance. To keep your log files clean, the software automatically starts logging the moment a bird rises above 0° elevation and stops tracking immediately at loss of signal (LOS).
Map Improvements and Documentation
-
Continuous Ground Track Map Fixes Partnered with g4dpz to address an issue where orbital ground tracks on the world map would occasionally cut off or drop segments. The map projection engine now perfectly handles paths across the international date line and during propagation gaps, keeping the orbital lines solid across the screen.
-
Dedicated Radio and Rotator Help Guides Expanded the built-in documentation with specific, easy-to-read help guides for Doppler tuning, Icom radios, Kenwood radios, RX/TX offset configurations, and rotator setups. The main screen application screenshot has also been updated to show off the latest layout adjustments.
