SlideWalker 1.1.0

Open a .odp or a .pdf as well as a .pptx, walk up to the links in your deck, and reach anywhere on a slide when you need to.

Three formats

• .odp (OpenDocument / LibreOffice Impress) is read the same dependency-free way as .pptx.
• .pdf — a deck exported to PDF, one page per slide. Each page is shown exactly as its exporter rendered it, and every line of its text becomes a ledge. PDFs need poppler installed; the start menu tells you if it's missing, and the README has one-line install instructions for every OS.

Links you can walk up to

Anything your deck links somewhere — a source URL, or the still image standing in for a video — is highlighted when you reach it, and E (controller: X) opens it. YouTube, Vimeo and PeerTube links are recognised, so the prompt offers to play the clip.

Assist platforms

H (controller: B) toggles three invisible, full-width ledges across every slide, off by default — for when you just want to get to a particular spot without working out the route. They never change how high the jump is tuned.

Text fidelity

Lines used to wrap slightly earlier than in the original deck, which could cost a line per paragraph and push text over an image or off the bottom of a slide. Fixed: text now lays out supersampled and scales down, trailing spaces no longer count against the wrap, and "shrink text on overflow" applies only where the deck actually asks for it — so titles keep overflowing their frames the way their authors left them.

Also: a Quit button in the menu, hidden slides skipped in .odp as well as .pptx, and a number of .odp rendering fixes (connectors between shapes, placeholder styles, runs of spaces, cropped images).

Installing

These builds aren't code-signed.

• Windows — "Windows protected your PC" → More info → Run anyway.
• macOS — right-click the app → Open → confirm. If that doesn't work: xattr -cr SlideWalker.app.
• Linux — chmod +x SlideWalker.x86_64.

Present your slides by walking through them. Open a .pptx file and SlideWalker turns it into a 2D platformer — every text line, title and image becomes a real, walkable ledge, laid out exactly as you designed it.

Pick your platform below, unzip, and run:

• Windows — SlideWalker-windows-x86_64.zip. On first launch, Windows SmartScreen will say "Windows protected your PC" — click More info, then Run anyway. (The app isn't code-signed; that's a paid certificate we haven't set up yet.)
• macOS — SlideWalker-macos.zip. macOS will refuse to open it as being "from an unidentified developer" — right-click (Control-click) SlideWalker.app and choose Open, then confirm. If that doesn't work: xattr -cr SlideWalker.app in Terminal. Universal binary (Intel + Apple Silicon).
• Linux — SlideWalker-linux-x86_64.zip. Make it executable first: chmod +x SlideWalker.x86_64.

Course types

Side-scroller, climb up, drop down, or a Prezi-style spiral big-canvas layout — pick one from the start menu. Jump height is calibrated automatically to each deck so every slide is always reachable.
