Yes, please keep the functionality separate. Have the robot do that one job and do it well. |

Noted, thank you for bringing it up! Short answer - yes, vacuum-only, mop-only is possible. How it (likely) can be done - my CAD designer will first design one model that's modular. The current plan is vacuum + mop (for reasons below). Then, dropping mop is easy (open-source design, modular). Keep everything else same - base, software, motors, sensors. Chaining single-purpose robots (vacuum first, mop behind it) sounds as creative idea, will be doable with software tinkering. Speaking of ideas - personally, I think it would be fun to have a "baby" version of a vacuum cleaner. Say, 2x smaller diameter. It could get into corners better and just fun to have it around. To set expectations, I expect the first rough "base" CAD design in very late August. Being able to mod that design (drop the mop or suction fan) - close to end of this year (2026). |

A long ways down the road, it may be best to separate the mop from the vacuum cleaner, because a mop vacuum is a machine that's very, very painful to design.
Having a separate mop would keep the price of the vacuum low, and it'd let us specialize both the mop and vacuum robots to be as good at their jobs as possible.
