Launch programs in background

Is it possible to launch programs in background? Niri has this: niri msg action spawn -- <command>. Is there something similar to it?

Or just, how can I launch things in the background without using this syntax: nohup <command> >/dev/null 2>&1 & ?

It's mmsg dispatch spawn_shell,<command>.
