Using Manticoresearch as an FTS engine in Mariadb

Mariadb seems to be making improving FTS a major focus in the near term. I commented in one of their tickets about performance relative to manticore, and one of the maintainers mentioned that it is (or at least was) possible to use Sphinx as the engine for FTS in mariadb, via the SphinxSE storage engine. Like Sphinx itself, it seems to not have been maintained at all. But it got me wondering whether there might be any possibility or interest in making a ManticoreSE for mariadb?

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, @nickchomey. I've asked them if they're interested in a tighter integration of Manticore with MariaDB.

Your comment there was excellent. I look forward to seeing what comes of it, as it really does seem like a perfect synergy - manticore is vastly more mature and capable than mariadb could/would/should ever develop themselves, so just leverage it natively instead. Moreover, I think it would bring more attention and usage to both projects.
