Request for more negative density range

I tend to expose my images as high as possible during scanning. In NegPy, once I adjust the luma range, white point and black point, I try to dial the exposure with the print density then balance shadow/highlight densities. I find that I am regularly at the absolute minimum print density and the images still turn out much dimmer than what I receive from commercial scanners. I think that more negative rage in the density sliders would solve the issue (though I am open to hearing other recommended workflows - I'm new to NegPy and coming over from Lightroom/Photoshop)

can you share a example file? it's weird that minimum density is not enough as it's already pretty extreme correction

Maybe something in my workflow, then? The auto density always pulls down to almost 0.20, so I don't have a lot of room below that. Here's one example where I needed to pull luma range clip to max, then drop print density to the floor to get closer to my target balance.

I've had similar issues with negative scans that have a bit extra light in them and it seems it compensates by making it darker post inversion. Having the extra density would make it much better. The negatives I used are exposed properly.

if there is extra light in scans then the correct approach is to crop it out or use analysis buffer to exclude it from calculation, not overcorrect with density
