This PR adds unit tests for previously-untested areas:
src/utils.js,src/defaults.js, XHR event handling, and some advancedindex.jspaths. It is tests-only with no source changes, and each test asserts real behavior (return values, error types and messages), not just that code runs.The tests pass against the existing jest suite. Happy to adjust style, naming, or split this into smaller PRs if you prefer.
