Mobile v2.36: Add guest invites on mobile #8677

@cwarnermm

Description

@cwarnermm

@claude Let’s update the Mattermost Product Documentation to reflect the End User and System Admin guest-invite-from-mobile product experience from Mattermost server v2.36.0 onward captured via PR #9288 (Add guest invites).

Persona/workflow must be inferred from PR evidence. If not explicit: [NOT PRESENT IN PR — REQUIRES HUMAN JUDGMENT].

Scope & constraints (include non-editable docs list)

    Update user/admin docs related to inviting guests from mobile and prerequisites only.

    Do not modify changelogs, important upgrade notes, version archive, removed/deprecated features, or unsupported legacy releases.

    Base all statements on PR evidence; mark any inference as [NOT PRESENT IN PR — REQUIRES HUMAN JUDGMENT].

Required doc touchpoints

    Identify likely pages for “Invite people to a team (mobile)”, “Guest accounts”, and “System Console settings/prerequisites for guest invites”.

Persona-separated tasks

End User:

    Document the mobile invite flow now supporting “Invite as guest”, required channel selection, optional custom message, and optional guest magic link toggle (UI and strings in app/screens/invite/selection.tsx, assets/base/i18n/en.json).

    Explain that guests are limited to selected channels and that channel selection is required for guest invites (strings invite.invite_as_guest_description, invite.no_channels_selected in assets/base/i18n/en.json).

System Admin:

    Add prerequisites/visibility conditions for guest invite options on mobile: guest accounts enabled, email invitations enabled for email entry, guest magic link toggle available only if enabled, team not group constrained, and user has Invite Guest permission (app/screens/invite/index.ts).

Output requirements

    Return a list of target doc pages (or candidate pages if unknown), proposed edits per page, and before/after snippets.

    Provide evidence mapping (file path + brief reference) for each claim.

    Flag any assumptions as [NOT PRESENT IN PR — REQUIRES HUMAN JUDGMENT].
