Hi everyone.
I had been using the Matt's workflow (
/grill-me→/to-prd→/to-issues) on multiple projects and found myself running into the same friction afterto-issuesfinished: a board full of well-structured, dependency-ordered issues - and me, manually picking the next unblocked one, pasting context into my agent, waiting, then doing it again.Initially, I wrote a shell script implementing a
ralph loopforclaudeto tackle open issues, but that grew too large and wasn't usable across different agents. So I built nightshift - it's a Rust CLI that autonomously works through your issues while you're AFK. Point it at a PRD issue number, pick your agent, and walk away:
It's built exclusively for issues produced by
to-prdandto-issues. It parses the## Parentsection to scope issues to the PRD, and the## Blocked bysection to resolve dependency order from bodies ofopenchild issues labelledready-for-agent.Each issue gets a fresh branch from main, a clean prompt via stdin, and zero shared context from previous issues. If the agent exits but the issue isn't closed, nightshift stops rather than guessing and you can inspect what happened and resume with
--issue.It currently supports five agents that I usually work with:
claude, codex, cursor, antigravity, andpi. Adding a new agent is a self-contained change (~20 lines of Rust). The contributing guide has a step-by-step walkthrough.I kept the design as simple and easily extendible as I could.
Try it out:
Prerequisites: Rust,
gh(authenticated), and your agent of choice. Use--dry-runto see what it would do without actually invoking anything.Repo: github.com/Shaurya-Sethi/nightshift
I'd love the community's help in making this better and adding support for more agents. Do check it out and leave the repo a star if you like it.
