Overall places/activities map

Loving the project but missing option to have a map/list of places for future travel plans , but no particular trip. Now places can be seen in single particular trip only, can't easily be used between trips.

I would also love having some general pool of places which I could import to individual trips.

I need help/opinions from you all!

I've really been sitting on this feature day and night... attached you can see my current version.

Feature scope:

• Create lists for collecting places
• Invite people to your own lists + corresponding acceptance from the other person
• Add places from trips to a list in Collections
• Add places from a Collection list to a trip
• Add a place from a Collection list directly from within the trip
• Edit places already in a Collection list, assign a category, add a description (which then carries over when adding to a trip)
• Assign tags to places (Idea, Want to go, Visited)
• Select places (you can select places there, including all at once with 1 click) and duplicate or move them to other lists
• Switch between shared map view with list or map-only view

Is this what you had in mind? Is anything still missing?

@Arkandrus Thanks for your ideas! That's right—you can freely filter your lists by category... I'd leave it at that, too, because adding custom tags would obviously make things a lot more complicated. What I'm also going to add is the ability to add multiple locations from a trip to a collection list at once.

I'm planning to add a button here for the collection lists, so you'll be able to add lots of locations to a list without having to click on each one individually.

I'll also add your idea about member permissions!

One thing id like to add is that i think it would be better to have the list of places, in the collection, to be on the right, mirroring how the layout in the trip planner is, i think that helps with the usability in the long run as the layout stays uniform.

To further add i would also think the ability to export the Collections and share them could be great. Would be helpfull for the community if someone maybe has a lot of cool spots to share. But that could also be an entirely seperate feature

Another question would be if you will treat a place in a collection as unique, say i have a place in my collection and also in 2 future trips, i know adjust the description or anything else, will it carry over to each trip or do i have to recopy?

Currently, here’s how it works: When you create or add a location to a collection and then add it to a trip, the trip inherits all the changes and adjustments you made to that location in the collection (description, category). However, if you then edit the location’s description or category again within the trip, these changes will NOT be synced back to the collection; instead, they’ll be treated as one-time adjustments specific to that location in that particular trip.

Yea that makes sense, i can see how it would be a lot of work esp on the DB structure to make those Places synced, just a idea for the future maybe, otherwise i think your idea for the Collections looks pretty great

I guess this is vaguely related to topic, but what would suggestions then to filter for example Michelin tourist recommendations according to star rating, when the categories are various.
To add stars to title? Or somewhere else?
