Hi, I tested Koharu and wanted to share some feedback based on actual use. The project is very promising and the overall concept is excellent, but I ran into several workflow issues that make it harder to use for real translation and typesetting work.
One of the biggest limitations is the lack of proper Arabic support. This is not only about displaying Arabic characters, but also about full right-to-left text behavior, correct shaping and joining of letters, punctuation placement, and handling mixed Arabic and Latin text correctly. Without proper RTL support, Arabic output is very difficult to use in practice.
Another important issue is the lack of a manual translation input workflow. Sometimes I do not want to use AI translation, or I already have a translation prepared by a human translator. In those cases, it would be very useful to have a clear text field where I can directly paste my own translation into each text block or bubble. Right now, the workflow feels too dependent on AI-generated output, while many real users need more manual control.
I also noticed that important keyboard shortcuts are missing. For editing software, shortcuts are essential for speed and usability. Basic actions such as undo, redo, save, and other common editing shortcuts would make the program much more comfortable to use, especially when working on many bubbles in one page.
Text styling also feels too limited for actual typesetting work. Different speech bubbles often need different fonts or different styling. It would be much better if each text block could have independent font settings, such as font family, size, stroke, and related formatting options. That would make the output far more flexible and much closer to real manga typesetting workflows.
Finally, when exporting to PSD, the program should ask the user where to save the file. The export process would feel much better if it allowed choosing the destination folder, file name, and format explicitly, instead of making the process feel automatic or unclear.
Overall, I think Koharu has a lot of potential, but these areas would greatly improve the experience for users who want a more practical and professional workflow, especially those who rely on manual editing rather than fully AI-driven translation.
