Getting Started
This version of Better HUD requires the Fabric mod loader along with the Fabric API. Both are simple to install. Once these are installed you can drop the mod .jar file (the plain one, not the sources one) into .minecraft/mods (adjust to your installation folder).
From the in-game options menu click the button labelled HUD Layout.
Right click on the background to open the context menu and click Add to add new elements from the list. Right click on an element to open the context menu and click Edit to open the element settings or Remove to remove it.
Once in the editor, click and drag the boxes to reposition elements. The dragged element will snap into position when two corners or sides are close together. To toggle snapping, click the magnet icon in the top right corner.
Each element has 9 alignment handles, which can be used to position one element relatively to another. Click and drag from one handle to another handle on a different element to make a link. You can also click on the first handle and then the second handle without dragging. You can remove a link by dragging either end away from the handle. The anchor is then in the corner of the screen.
Once linked the first handle (the link) aligns its element relative to the second handle (the anchor). If either element moves or changes size, the relative distance between the linked handles will not change. Using this system you can center, align right, or make rows and columns.
