No, FontStream was not made for that. If you need this, use a third part library like as3swf or FonReader
No, for the moment, FontStream work only with TextField class or its subclasses (Flex). It's due to a technical difference between the old engine and the new one to embed fonts (DefineFont4, Compact Font Format)
All char of Unicode Basic Multilingual Plane (plane 0), which contains the majority of actual commons languages.
It's depend of what tool is used to generate SWF files. (see How to embed a font in a SWF)
FontStream require the same license than embedding a font in a SWF document. (See Licenses)
