Welcome to DeepLocal! This application provides you with a simple way to translate text offline, using a fast two-pane workflow similar to DeepL. Below are the steps you need to follow to download and run DeepLocal.
DeepLocal is a clean WPF desktop application designed for efficient translation. It uses the Ollama framework to provide translations completely offline. You can easily detect languages, swap them, and select your preferred translation model, with the default set to gemma3:12b. Built with .NET 8, this application ensures you have a smooth and responsive user experience.
To run DeepLocal, ensure your system meets the following requirements:
- Operating System: Windows 10 or higher
- Processor: Intel or AMD with at least 2 cores
- RAM: Minimum of 4 GB
- Disk Space: At least 200 MB of free space
- .NET Runtime: .NET 8 or higher
- Offline Translation: No internet required.
- User-Friendly Interface: Navigate easily with a clean design.
- Language Detection: Automatically identify the source and target languages.
- Model Selection: Choose from various models, with gemma3:12b as the default.
- Fast Performance: Optimized for quick translations.
To get started, visit the Releases page. Here’s how to download and install DeepLocal:
- Click on the Releases page link.
- Look for the latest version of DeepLocal at the top of the page.
- Under the "Assets" section, find the installation file labeled something like
DeepLocal_x.x.x.exe. - Click on the installation file to download it to your computer.
- Once the download is complete, locate the file in your Downloads folder and double-click it to run the installer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
After installing DeepLocal, follow these steps to start translating:
- Launch the application from your desktop or Start Menu.
- In the left pane, enter the text you want to translate.
- Select the source language if you want to specify it; otherwise, the app will auto-detect it.
- In the right pane, choose your desired target language.
- Click the "Translate" button to get your translation.
- You can swap the input and output languages at any time by clicking the swap button.
