Contacts are added without being in "discovered"

Not sure whether this is an actual bug or expected behaviour, but here goes.

Lately I get new contacts added in my list - I have auto-add on - but those contacts are not in the "discovered" list, and since it seems that is the only way to see how the contact was discovered (direct or how many hops, etc) I have no clue how they got there.

Is this normal? I read a discussion about cleaning up the discovered list if a contact is added but this doesn't seem to be the issue - my two repeaters in range reliably show up in both.

Bluetooth companion, Wio, 1.12. I'll try factory resetting it but given how isolated I am it might be a while before I can reliably test.

On the way back I picked up some other signals. 3 out of 5 added contacts are in "discovered", the remaining two are not. Is there a logic behind this?

This might be normal behaviour, because the discovered list is held client side and can only be populated when the client is connected to a companion.

Aha - but my companion is connected pretty much 24/7. During the ride where 5 new ones were picked up, it was definitely connected. And would the discovered list not be updated after a reconnection?

Alternatively, I can see in my client's contact list when a contact was last heard, but not the path that last-heard packet has taken - would it make sense to store it there? Right now I'm using (or trying to) the discovered list for that, also for contacts that are already long added, which feels like it's not exactly its main purpose. Which is how I bumped into this - I have new contacts for which I have no way of figuring out how their advert reached me.
