No changes has been made but got this error this month:
"Root Public Folder Mailbox Serving Hierarchy: true - Error"

Running this:
Get-OrganizationConfig | Select-Object PublicFoldersLockedForMigration, PublicFolderMigrationComplete
PublicFoldersLockedForMigration PublicFolderMigrationComplete

                      False                         False

Expected behavior
No error ofc :)

Please use this command to check the settings:

((Get-OrganizationConfig).RootPublicFolderMailbox | Get-Mailbox -PublicFolder).IsExcludedFromServingHierarchy

The primary public folder mailbox must be excluded from providing hierarchy to clients (IsExcludedFromServingHierarchy parameter set to True). This allows the primary public folder mailbox to spend its time maintaining the hierarchy and dealing with hierarchy replication tasks. Overloading this public folder mailbox with client connections can in turn lead to performance and reliability issues with your PF hierarchy.

Hi Lucas.
I got the same result with this command:
Get-Mailbox -PublicFolder | Format-List Name, IsExcludedFromServingHierarchy
Name : Mailbox1
IsExcludedFromServingHierarchy : False

Its the Primary publicfoldermailbox thats not excluded from serving the hierarchy that causes this error

We have only 1 Publicfoldermailbox and ofc its primary. The mailbox is only 210MB big and we only have like 10-20 users accessing the public folders with +10 calenders.

So im guessing that this error i can live with :)

I see. Thanks for the update. @dpaulson45 we'd need to add another condition to exclude this check if there is only 1 PF mailbox present in the organization. Alternatively, we should show a warning instead of an error, recommending to create at least 2 PF mailboxes.
