Description of the new feature / enhancement

The color picker closes after a short time. Why? This is very annoying.

Scenario when this would be used?

Whenever anyone uses the color picker.

Supporting information

Please don't say use the shortcut. Eff the shortcut. When I open the damn editor, I want it to stay open until I close it. If you're obsessed with keeping it open, then at least provide a setting somewhere that will allow users to override this "feature".

To add details as to the cause, the picker closes whenever you press the Esc or Backspace keys. It's incredibly annoying to have it close and eat up a Backspace.

+1, it should be at least configurable, it's just plain annoying. I can understand closing with escape when the picker window is active, but it captures the keys everywhere and anytime.

Not only is annoying closing it unwantedly all the time, but also the key event is completely captured by the picker window, so your text editor won't ever delete the offending letter unless you press backspace again.
