Suggestion

Add an extra heavely used type - simple Object with string keys, used a lot as "primitive Map".
Tired writing { [ key: string ]: T } each time.
Want export type StrMap<T> = { [ key: string ]: T }; as one of basic types.
Keys in Objects are not too far from strings ( Object.keys(_object).join('/') ).
This is not fully related to #26797 as it's a wider use case, IMHO.

My suggestion meets these guidelines:

• This wouldn't be a breaking change in existing TypeScript/JavaScript code
• This wouldn't change the runtime behavior of existing JavaScript code
• This could be implemented without emitting different JS based on the types of the expressions
• This isn't a runtime feature (e.g. library functionality, non-ECMAScript syntax with JavaScript output, etc.)
• This feature would agree with the rest of TypeScript's Design Goals.

Record<string, T> is already shorter (and much less annoying to type). Thoughts?

Sorry, I found very poor description of Record.
The meaning is very important, Object that is used as Map is important meaning.
There is a lot of comparison posts comparing Map vs Object.
I also do this, if number of objects are less than a thousand I use Object, because it much less code.
And Record<string, T> isn't not shorter, than Something<T>.
My point is that string key is as much useful to make a type based on this fact.

Associative array - there is such primitive in other languages. That's what I'm trying to discuss ))

Thoughts?

While Record<T1, T2> has its merit in certain use cases like mapped types, I find myself writing Record<string, more than anything else.

I did a quick search through my GitHub projects to look at the first type parameter:

• Almost all occurences were string
• Two occurences were a string enum
• Two occurences were keyof something
