The blog link existed only as an unlabeled icon in the social icons row — effectively invisible to users who didn't already know to look for it there.

Changes

  • FooterLinks.astro — adds a labeled "Blog" entry (with document icon) to the Community column in the footer, consistent with existing entries like Discord and Watch, pointing to https://devblogs.microsoft.com/aspire
  • src/content/i18n/*.json (15 files) — adds footer.blog translation key to all locales ("Blog" for most; script/CJK locales use native equivalents: "ブログ", "블로그", "Блог", "博客", "ब्लॉग")

I'm fine with adding this, but let's get @BethMassi thoughts on the wording. Today, we have a footer like this:

image

You're adding Blog under Community, my ask is should we also update the other language around each community link?

Today Proposed
Follow X (Twitter)
Collaborate GitHub
Discord Discord
Discuss Reddit
Watch YouTube
- Blog

This is a repeat of the Connect with us social icons, not a big deal really... but should we include others as well in this listing? Like BlueSky and Twitch?

Don't you think "YouTube" is better than "Watch"?
Personally I know there is a youtube channel, I don't have a bookmark (not that important to me) but when I go on the site and I search to Youtube it doesn't show up.
In the old times it used to be at the top so I could see it directly, now any new users might not think about going to the end of the page, and look for a tiny icon that looks like the youtube logo

PS: I see this is also in the suggestions table now

Use recognizable platform names for footer Community links, include BlueSky and Twitch alongside the existing social destinations, and remove the unused action-label locale entries.

The verbs are important as a call to action. I'd at least do "Follow us on X" "Watch us on YouTube", "Read our blog", etc. We also have TicTok and other dormant channels that we're going to start utilizing but I'd keep just the main ones in the footer.
