Azure SQL database technologies - a global architectural overview from a helicopter point of view above all SKUs

The Azure SQL database and Microsoft SQL Server technologies start becoming far too complex and segmented.

It's critical too for customers and partners to understand the global architecture among all theses SKUs and how many technologies are there eventually.

I think it should start by describing the architecture implemented in each SKUs and identify each block sharing the same technology and how each block are using each other.

I guess it will also help a lot and avoid the blackbox SKU syndrome.

This is also critically important for each SKU roadmap and for the global roadmap in terms of engineering.
