IDFIX Not returning any results #102

Description

@30aBeachDude

I have the IDFIX Installed and running on a fresh server build. All Requirements are met and I had no issues installing the application or any pre-reqs.

  1. Whenever, I try to run the application the kick off the query and the query does not error it just says beginning query and thats where it stays.

  2. I have left the query running for hours and never get any results.

  3. My Account has read / write access Active Directory because my team is the Identity Access Management team and we are responsible provisioning accounts in our Active Directory environment.

  4. However; I did have one of our Enterprise Admins run the tool as they have Domain Admin and they do get results after about 30 mins.

  5. I did create an official case with Microsoft Support but they responded with this message and directed me here regarding IDFIX.

Hi, Thomas,
I hope you’re doing well.

Thank you very much for the detailed information you provided and for testing the scenario with different permission levels. I truly appreciate the time and effort you’ve invested in troubleshooting this issue.

After reviewing your scenario internally, we understand that the IDFix tool is able to return results when executed with elevated permissions (such as Domain Admin), but it remains stuck at “Beginning Query” when run with your current account. This behavior suggests that the tool is functioning inconsistently depending on the execution context.

At this point, I would like to share an important clarification. While we support Microsoft 365 and Entra ID synchronization, the IDFix tool itself is not part of the Microsoft 365 product suite and is maintained as an open-source/standalone utility. Because of this, it falls outside the scope of our direct support boundaries.

That said, the best path forward to obtain specialized assistance and ensure your scenario is properly reviewed is to submit a request directly to the product owners via the official repository:

IDFix GitHub Issues: https://github.com/Microsoft/idfix/issues

By submitting your scenario there, you will be able to:

Engage directly with the maintainers of the tool
Report potential bugs or unexpected behaviors
Track progress or responses related to your case

Thank you again for your patience and collaboration on this case. I’ll remain available to assist you in any way I can within our support scope.
