I’ve just open-sourced 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒊𝒕𝒅𝒐𝒘𝒏_𝒖𝒊 a beautiful, local developer dashboard to convert PDFs, Word files, Excel sheets, images (with OCR), audio, EPubs, and YouTube links into clean Markdown.
Here are the features I built to make it robust for real-world projects:
📂𝑴𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒊-𝑭𝒊𝒍𝒆 𝑸𝒖𝒆𝒖𝒆 Drag and drop multiple files to convert them sequentially. Each file card tracks progress in real-time, letting you review results instantly.
🔒 𝒁𝒆𝒓𝒐-𝑻𝒓𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝑨𝑷𝑰 𝑲𝒆𝒚 𝑺𝒆𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒚 To protect your keys, I implemented two storage modes:
𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞: Encrypts OpenAI/Azure keys directly in the browser (AES-GCM + PBKDF2) using a master passphrase. They never touch the server disk.
𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐧𝐯 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞: Prefills keys via .env variables for teams or Docker deployments, bypassing frontend prompts entirely.
🎥 𝑺𝒖𝒃-𝑺𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝑻𝒖𝒃𝒆 𝑺𝒖𝒃𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝑬𝒙𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 Bypasses timedtext limits and PoToken origin gates. The backend normalizes URLs, extracts metadata, and compiles clean markdown scripts automatically.
⚡ 𝑩𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑼𝑽 & 𝑫𝒐𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒓 The entire backend uses Astral's ultra-fast uv package manager for instant setups. I've also pre-packaged full Docker Compose configurations with an SSL-ready Nginx reverse proxy.
It’s completely open-source and ready to run locally. Try it out, deploy it on your infrastructure, find issues, and let me know your thoughts!
