[Bug]: playwright.downloaf.prss.microsoft.com is not used in browser installation anymore

Steps to reproduce

Hi,

We used to be able to install browsers in our firm until recent 1.58.0. The reason is that internally we blocked playwright cdn, but previously playwright mananged to try playwright.download.press.Microsoft.com as fallback. Luckily we are allowed to use this host.

On 1.58.0, I cannot see this fallback behavior anymore and it simply retried playwright cdn and finally failed.

May I know if you can bring this url back?

Expected behavior

Fallback url playwright.download.prss.microsoft.com is back

Actual behavior

Playwright only tries playwright and does not fallback to microsoft cdn mentioned in title

In recent versions, some browser downloads are served from different endpoints. Download URLs are subject to change and aren’t guaranteed to remain stable across versions.

As a workaround, you can either allowlist the Playwright CDN, or download browsers from an internal artifact repository as described here:
https://playwright.dev/docs/browsers#download-from-artifact-repository
