  • Added support for Azure Cosmos DB Shell
    • Automatically installs .NET 10 and the CosmosDBShell tool if not available on the system.
    • Configure a custom path to CosmosDBShell using the cosmosDB.shell.path setting.
    • Run CosmosDBShell using the new NoSQL: Launch Cosmos DB Shell command or the Database/Container context menu.
    • Built-in MCP support, enable using cosmosDB.shell.MCP.enabled.

Fixed

  • Fixed an issue where Cosmos DB accounts configured with strict native (data-plane) RBAC could not perform control-plane operations such as creating or deleting databases and containers or reading throughput. These operations are now routed through Azure Resource Manager for Azure-signed-in accounts. (#2990)
  • Fixed an issue where the NoSQL Query Editor's Stats tab showed a "Failed to parse index metrics" error for queries that returned no results. (#3034)
  • Fixed an issue where the Query Editor connection dropdown could remain stuck in a "Loading…" state when listing databases or containers failed. (#3036)
  • Fixed an issue where the Throughput Bucket menu was shown in the Query Editor toolbar when connected to the Cosmos DB Emulator, which does not support it. (#3058)
  • Fixed an issue where Cosmos DB Shell MCP discovery could trigger install or settings notifications in the background when the shell was not installed or MCP was disabled. (#3043)
