Bruno | A Git-Friendly, Offline-First API Client Built Right Into VS Code
Hi everyone! I’m thrilled to introduce [Bruno] ... a fast, lightweight, and open-source API client integrated into VS Code that makes API testing and development smoother and more efficient. Our desktop app is used by ~2 million devs and we've been keen to provide this extension as well.
This is a fresh version of our extension that was previously just syntax highlighting.
If you’ve ever toggled between your code editor and a separate API tool, Bruno is here to change that. Here’s why it stands out:
Why Bruno?
.brufiles stored directly in your workspace. They’re plain text so version control is natural, diffable, and merge-friendly.Core Features
.bruediting with both GUI and editor modesAdvanced Capabilities
Whether you're testing REST services or crafting complex GraphQL queries, Bruno gives you the full power of a standalone API tool—right inside your editor.

Looking Ahead
Imagine Bruno becoming the go-to tool for API workflows in VS Code particularly in enterprise and remote settings where offline-first reliability matters. I’m eager to explore partnership opportunities, feature spotlights, or guest contributions on Microsoft’s developer blog.
Would love to hear your thoughts—feedback, ideas, or even use cases from other developers trying something similar. Thanks for checking it out! 🎉
