SQL Database Projects VSCode Extension - Cannot Connect to Azure SQL Database using Microsoft Entra

• OS Version: Windows 11 Enterprise, 22631.5335

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open Connection Dialog
2. Click Browse Azure
3. Select subscription, resource group, location and server
4. Click Trust Server Certificate
5. Select Authentication Type: Microsoft Entra ID - Universal with MFS Support
6. Encrypt: Mandatory
7. Clicking connect , button spins, and does not connect me to the database.

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Yes

It sounds like the connection in https://github.com/microsoft/vscode-mssql is failing, and you plan to use that connection in the SQL projects extension?

Is this is the connection dialog that's spinning?

@dzsquared : Yes that is correct! Attempting to perform a schema compare process, but I cannot establish a connection to Azure SQL Database (chose the 'Browse Azure' button & connected using Microsoft Entra ID - Universal with MFA Support), when using the VSCode extension. The button spins but does not connect me to the database. Screenshot here:

Hey @Lwhieldon, are you still having this issue on the latest version of the MSSQL extension? We've made many improvements to this area since you've filed this bug.

If you are still encountering this issue, can attach logs (with personal information, like server name and Microsoft account redacted)? You can set "mssql.tracingLevel": "Verbose", and check both the MSSQL and MSSQL - Azure Auth Logs output panes.
