I've observed this too, and there is many datascience processes running even if I never launch jupyter, nor use the interactive window nor notebooks. Anyway you should provide some details or this will surely be closed.

Could you elaborate a bit? Is VS code taking a lot of memory or CPU? Does it happen if you don't load the extension (open VS code without opening a .py file)?

I checked the extension loading time, and found that Python extension took 4296ms, and caused vscode to jam during the loading process, which would occur when opening. Py file
