Please provide ability to search test names in discovered tests

Currently, when tests are discovered and showed in the Tests pane, there is no way to search (by string) among those tests.

I would like the ability to search among those tests based on a string and then execute them.

Closest example is what we have in Extensions. We have a search box at the top where we can search based on a string. Similar ability to search among test (based on string/name) is what I am requesting.

Have you tried the command Python: Run Test Method. That might give you want you're after.

Thank you. That works for the most granular level of tests. However, finding test files such as test_<>.py (which is how they are grouped in the Test pane) is not available through Python: Run Test Method as I see currently.

For example, in a repo of ~1000 tests and scrolling up and down to find out the groups/testfile names of tests is kind of hard.

groups/testfile names of tests is kind of hard.

The list get filtered as you type into the dropfown list box. I.e. searching within the dropfown list is possible even with 1000 items, e.g. searching by file names.

Please try that and let us know how that goes.
