This PR fixes #146285 as an alternative to #146286
@rzhao271, this specific situation is the main reason why
SplitViewhas aTLayoutContextgeneric type: it allows to pass more context down to each viewlayoutcall. I was hoping the documentation would help with this, so please let me know if you have suggestions on how to improve the docs there.
