Go extension stops responding after a while.

Installed fresh go 1.18, a new install of vscode with only the go extension. As I work, save and change files after a certain time (around 5-10 minutes) code suggestions and formatting stop working and vscode is stuck on saving with message "Getting code actions from Go". Go code related error messages become stuck in an old version and never update. Restarting the language server helps that static code anaylsis continues normally but I get no suggestions and formatting when this happens unless I restart VSCode completely.

Normal terminal go commands like build work fine. I can debug the code normally via vscode debug button even when errors seemingly exist (errors are still showing even after I fix them).
