Prompt on Debug Console causes app to crash

I have my task.json configured to run a yarn start command. This is required because of some complexities in the build step. I have the output being captured in the Debug Console so that I can see the output using the outputCapture["std"] command. The full json is as specified here:

In some scenariors the yarn start command might prompt something because it runs a shell script first. This causes VSCode to crash entirely.

For this, we recommend setting "console": "integratedTerminal" to run the program in a real terminal. Our Debug Console (and the debug protocol in general) does not support providing stdin to programs!

@connor4312 Thanks, that works! Did not know about the option.

It would be ideal if VSCode did not crash because of this and instead handled it gracefully though? It took me a while to figure out that it was the prompt causing the crash, and it caused some weird behaviour where the terminal never opened up after in VSCode unless I killed the VSCode process and restarted it.

@connor4312 what's happening here:

• The process launches, debugger gets atttached
• The process then gets killed by the startup script since some condition is not fulfilled

Maybe since the process gets killed outside of code, it causes it to crash? This is just a guess.

That's strange. Is there any code in the scripts you're running that kills processes? Such as something that kills the entire process tree (including parents) which would result in the renderer getting killed.
