Support for maximizing panel when alignment is set to "Justify" #174160

Type: Feature Request

Currently the panel can only be maximized when the alignment is set to centered. It's nice to be able to reclaim some additional width by setting the panel alignment to Justify and having it extend beneath the sidebar. Particularly when watching application logging scroll by in the terminal.

Unfortunately, this disables the ability to maximize the panel. My motivation for maximizing the panel is the same as my motivation for setting it to Justify: more space for activities. Despite both of these features aiding the same goal, they conflict with one another.

I can see a couple of reasonable options for the desired behavior here:

  • The maximized panel covers/hides the side bar
  • The panel temporary switches to be center aligned while maximized

I think the first option is more consistent and predictable, but the second option is a "good enough" solution that might be much easier to accomplish.
