Save All no longer works

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: N/A

• VS Code Version: 1.77.1
• OS Version: Windows 10 19045.2728

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open Project with many files
2. Edit multiple documents (in sub folders)
3. Use File > Save All in VSCode

Result:

No file is saved.

This issue was very recently introduced. I have VS Code auto update enabled, so it patched itself into this state where "Save All" feature no longer works. Before that "Save All" worked properly.

I have the same issue starting from 1.74

Previously i fix it on 1.75 by clean uninstall or by rolling back to 1.73.1
Currenlty on 1.77.3 and problem reoccured after i opened a large number of files.

I wonder if this issue is being caused by an installed extension. Can you try to run VS Code without extensions? From the command line (NOT the integrated terminal in Code), execute: code --disable-extensions and try your steps again to see if it reproduces. If you see it is an issue with the extension, please file it against the extension repository itself.

I tested against "code --disable-extensions" and the issue is 100% reproducible. Visual Studio Code displays the "All installed extensions are temporarily disabled." message in the lower right corner.

Do you need intel on a repository where this is reproducible?

Yeah it would be great to have a clear instruction for me how to reproduce. Does not have to be the same data as long as it is reliably reproducible with the steps.

I tried to reproduce it on a new "Project" with dummy files, 5 folders deep, but the issue is not reproducible this way. I suggest loading up a bigger project with many files.

In my case I open root folder of https://github.com/TheSuperHackers/GeneralsGamePatch

Then edit a file such as Patch104pZH\GameFilesEdited\Data\INI\Object\FactionBuilding.ini, then hit Save All, and nothing happens.

Ok I will run some more tests later to isolate problem further. I do have more generated files in the project folder, including symbolic links, so perhaps it requires more than naked project.

I cleaned local repository to naked state and the behavior was still reproducible on my machine.

Does vscode generate a meaningful log for issues like this that I could hand over here?

Please see if you can find any logged output that could help us find the source of the issue:

• run code --verbose from the command line
• reproduce the issue
• attach the log files you find from running the command "Open Logs Folder"
