Description
Not everyone has a large monitor or dual-monitor. The green arrow in the attached image shows how less space I have to view code because the terminal takes up as much space as the red arrow. I know I can minimise it or move the window, but that is far less usable than what I'm going to suggest:
The suggestion: Netbeans had a feature of having the terminal popup from the side (as shown by the yellow arrow), only when it was actively outputting something. When the outputs stopped, and I clicked anywhere outside the terminal pane, the pane would automatically collapse neatly into the side. So if you allow for window panes to collapse into a tab at the left or right side of the IDE, it'd be really convenient for a User to just hover the mouse pointer on that tab, and have the pane open up fully (and even when it opens up fully, the User has the option of setting how big the pane would be horizontally), and once the pane is out of focus, it shrinks back into the tab.
I know not all Users would want this functionality, so each pane can be allowed to be "set" to whatever behaviour the User is comfortable with. It'd help for you to try out some other IDE's and see the various functionality they provide with regard to these panes.
