# Copilot Chat sessions unexpectedly lost; sidebar cannot recover active conversations
Description
While using Copilot Chat in VS Code, I have repeatedly encountered unexpected session loss. The behavior includes:
- Active conversations disappearing without warning
- The Copilot Chat sidebar failing to retain or restore the lost sessions
- No record of the missing sessions appearing in the history
- Loss of important context and work in progress
The issue occurs randomly and without a clear trigger. It has happened several times and has caused significant disruption to my workflow.
