Claude Opus 4.6 Agent does not see pasted image

FYI @TylerLeonhardt this happens during a normal chat not when using the Claude integration (see the screenshot). Filing a new issue since this made me switch to another tool and the issue #294775 is closed.

• Start a new agent session using Claude Opus
• Paste an image
• Prompt: explain this image
  Result: 'There is no image attached'

I'm using the local chat mode.

recently made some changes for messages API and CAPI deployed a fix for this in the afternoon where it was working.

looks broken again now tho...

i sent CAPI some more info on this!

I've the same issue with VS Code Insiders.

Fix: modelCanUseImageURL() in chatModelCapabilities.ts should return false for Anthropic models (matching the existing pattern of modelCanUseMcpResultImageURL()). This prevents image upload for Claude, keeping images as base64 data URLs which work correctly through both the extension and CAPI.
