"Compact conversation" replaces current message

Type: Bug

• Have an existing GitHub Copilot chat
• Write a chat message in the GitHub Copilot chat window
• Open the statistics menu of the GitHub Copilot and click "Compact conversation"

Actual result: the slash command "/compact" overwrites the current chat message and is immediately sent; the original chat message is lost (as far as I can see)

Expected result: the chat compacts in the background while I can continue the started chat message

I observed a very similar behaviour today on VS Code stable too. /compact command was issued and entire conversation suddenly vanished. I was able to recover the lost messages from files (using a recovery tool - which has been quite handy in similar situations in the past)
