Github Copilot Chat is not working - Extension host terminated unexpectedly 3 times within the last 5 minutes.

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Yes/No

• VS Code Version: 1.111.0 (user setup)
• OS Version: Windows_NT x64 10.0.26200

Steps to Reproduce:

• I installed the latest version of the GitHub Copilot Chat extension.
• When I try to use Copilot Chat, it repeatedly shows the error: “Extension host terminated unexpectedly 3 times within the last 5 minutes.”
• It also keeps asking me to log in to AI Features, but the login always fails.
• I tried re‑logging in through the GitHub profile login option — it shows as logged in, but the chat still throws the same error.

I am using the latest VS Code version and latest extension version, but still it is not working. Extension 0.37.2 was working until 9th March. I couldn't even find older versions to install them.

This is happening to me also, happens every 3 messages, restarts all the terminals and knocks off my postgres api servers. Im using the most recent VS Code and Github Copilot Chat in agent mode with Claude Opus 4.6. Am I losing 3 tokens every time this happens as it has happened 10+ times today already.

Happens to me as well with latest VSCode and latest Github Copilot Chat extension.
@deepak1556 over here it's not the editor that crashes but only the extension host - when Github Copilot extension is enabled.
