Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open VS Code

2. Open the integrated terminal

3. Run the command:

   xdg-open "https://example.com"

4. Observe the warning or unexpected behavior in the terminal

The URL should open without warnings, or a clear and informative message should be displayed explaining the issue.

Actual Result:
A warning or unclear message appears without sufficient context or guidance, making it difficult to understand the cause or resolution.

The output from xdg-open can sometimes be from xdg-open itself if for instance no default browser have been selected but sometimes it can instead launch some browser and that browser may emit all kinds of stuff in the terminal.

Have you tried calling xdg-open outside of VSCode?

This does not seem to be a vscode issue. If you believe it is, pls show a screenshot in an external terminal vs a vs code one.
